The Topkapı Palace was the administrative center of the Ottoman Empire. The Palace received museum status in 1924. The Topkapı Palace Museum currently has an archive and a library. Part of the archive has been transferred to the Ottoman Archives. You may contact the museum for the documents that has not been transferred to the Ottoman Archives. The Topkapı Palace Museum's library contains 21.438 books in which 18.622 of them are manuscripts. Among the manuscripts, 600 of them have miniature illuminations. The library has a large collection of miniature illuminations consisting of more than 10.000 items.
