OpenAthens: Remote Access to Library Resources

This guide provides general information and FAQs for using the Koç University Suna Kıraç Library's electronic resources via the new off-campus login system OpenAthens.

Why is the library changed remote access service?

  • OpenAthens offers increased quality of remote access, reduces service interruptions, and allows library users to access e-resources across library databases and publisher websites with just one simple login.

Should I continue to use VPN?

  • With the VPN service, you can continue to access electronic resources, but due to the VPN service structure, it will cause a loss of internet speed and various access problems.

Do I have to log in separately when I want to access another database?

  • OpenAthens uses cookies to remember your device's IP address, as well as your session, and prevents authentication every new session. As long as you don't change your internet browser, you can continue your research.

Can I access the electronic resources remotely after graduation?

  • Even if your KU NET account is active after graduation, Alumni users do not have access rights due to license agreements signed with publishers.
