Document Supply Services

Our Document Supply Services involve to borrow books, journal articles and other materials from other libraries. The Interlibrary Loan Service is the next step after you cannot find your materials through the SKL catalog or our online resources.

How long can items be checked out?

- Copies of articles may be kept by the user but remember to observe copyright laws.  

- The loan period for an ILL book request depends on the lending library. The average loan period is 2 to 4 weeks; however, some loan periods can be longer or shorter. Most ILL books can be renewed. But if the lending library recalls the item, you must return it immediately.

- Books should be returned on the due date stamped on the ILL slip, so that it can be returned on time to the lending library.

How can I pick up an ILL or ICLS book

When the book arrives at the Library, you will be notified by the responsible librarian via an e-mail.

How can I return an ILL or ICLS book

You may return your ILL or ICLS book to our main or branch libraries.

How long does it take for an ILL request to be filled?

  •  There are several factors that are important to consider. For example whether it is a non-returnable item (photocopy) or a loan, whether the supplier is a local library, overseas library and the method of delivery (regular mail, e-mail, fax, etc.). Some average times include:

- ILL book requests are supplied within 2-7 working days,

- Article requests are supplied within 2-14 working days.

  • Requests submitted on weekend and during vacations cannot be processed till the upcoming working day.
  • Please let us know as soon as possible if you no longer require an item. The request can then be canceled.

Notification

All ILL request notices will be sent to your Koç University e-mail account, so be sure to check your e-mail on a regular basis. Also, you can check the status of your requests by going to the Library web site and logging into your Library Account.

Pickup/Return

Your pick up location is your home library except otherwise stated on the form. You should return your books to the Information Desk on the Basement Floor. Do not return ILL books  by using Self-check machines.

  •  Receiving journal articles You will receive an email notice explaining how to retrieve an article. If a lending library sends your article in electronic format, we will e-mail the article to you. For paper format, students should come to the Information Desk on the Basement Floor to collect it while articles requested by faculty and staff are sent to their offices.   
  • Receiving books  ILL books can be picked up at the Information Desk on the Basement Floor. You will receive an e-mail notice when ILL items are available to pick up.
